White House Playfully Pokes Fun at Mark Hamill’s Near Departure Post-Trump Victory

White House trolls Mark Hamill over claim he nearly left US after Trump re-election

Mark Hamill Reflects on Moving Away from the U.S. After Trump’s Win

Mark Hamill, renowned for his role in "Star Wars," revealed that he almost relocated from the United States following President Trump’s electoral victory in November. He recounted that it was his wife who convinced him to remain in the country after he suggested they emigrate to the UK or Ireland.

In an interview, Hamill shared, “She’s very clever. She didn’t respond immediately, but a week later, she remarked, ‘I’m surprised you would let him drive you out of your home country.’”

Hamill, aged 73, is best known for portraying the iconic Luke Skywalker in George Lucas’s epic saga. His candid remarks have drawn a tongue-in-cheek reaction from the White House.

“I thought to myself, ‘That son of a b—h, I’m not leaving,’” he stated, emphasizing his determination to stay.

Previously residing in London, Hamill has been a vocal supporter of President Joe Biden and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her 2024 campaign.

The White House responded with sarcasm, stating, “Since Mark has chosen to stay in the United States, he can enjoy the many successes President Trump is securing for the American people — and honestly, who wouldn’t reconsider a move to the same place as Rosie O’Donnell?”

Additionally, Hamill expressed his frustration with the current administration: “The bullying, the incompetence, the individuals in charge… The only way I cope without feeling overwhelmed is by viewing it as an intricate political drama. It’s oddly entertaining because this might actually be the conclusion. Our global standing has been severely impacted, and the repercussions will last for years. Suggesting Canada become a 51st state? That’s deeply offensive. And then seizing Greenland and renaming the Gulf of Mexico? The distractions are absurd.”

Nonetheless, Hamill remains hopeful about the American populace: “I still believe there are more honest, decent people than there are within the MAGA movement. If I didn’t hold that belief, I would return to England.”
