Mark Hamill Reflects on Moving Away from the U.S. After Trump’s Win
Mark Hamill, renowned for his role in "Star Wars," revealed that he almost relocated from the United States following President Trump’s electoral victory in November. He recounted that it was his wife who convinced him to remain in the country after he suggested they emigrate to the UK or Ireland.
In an interview, Hamill shared, “She’s very clever. She didn’t respond immediately, but a week later, she remarked, ‘I’m surprised you would let him drive you out of your home country.’”

It’s oddly entertaining because this might actually be the conclusion. Our global standing has been severely impacted, and the repercussions will last for years. Suggesting Canada become a 51st state? That’s deeply offensive. And then seizing Greenland and renaming the Gulf of Mexico? The distractions are absurd.”
Nonetheless, Hamill remains hopeful about the American populace: “I still believe there are more honest, decent people than there are within the MAGA movement. If I didn’t hold that belief, I would return to England.”
