Wedding Thief Steals Up to $100,000 in Gifts, Disrupts Celebration

A wedding crasher was apprehended on video while allegedly making off with between $80,000 and $100,000 in wedding gifts, abruptly halting the joyous celebration for the couple.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday at the Renaissance Banquet in Glendale, California, where the thief was seen grabbing a box filled with cash and checks. The suspect managed to bypass security personnel but was quickly noticed by one of the bride’s friends, who promptly raised the alarm.

"At that moment, the music ceased, and everyone realized what was happening," bride Nadeen Farahat recounted. She expressed her astonishment over the incident. "It’s such a special and joyful occasion, and you’re having a great time. You never anticipate something like this. It’s the last thing that occupies anyone’s mind."

The couple revealed that they had employed extra security for the event, yet the thief evaded them. Security footage revealed the man, clad in all black, loitering in the lobby while seemingly conversing on his cellphone before heading into the ballroom, where festivities were in full swing.

He appeared to order a drink at the bar and wandered to a less crowded area of the dance floor. Video evidence shows him bending down, picking something up, and then sprinting out through a side exit.

Outside, he jumped into a black Mercedes Benz and sped away before guests could respond.

"It was an amazing party until this unfortunate event occurred," groom George Farahat stated.

After contacting their guests, the couple assessed their losses, concluding they were robbed of $80,000 to $100,000. They have since filed a report with the Glendale Police Department, which is actively investigating the theft.
