"Inglewood Faces an Infestation of Stray Cats"
Residents in a Los Angeles neighborhood are reporting a peculiar problem: an influx of stray cats resembling "zombies" that are knocking and scratching at doors after dark, evoking scenes from a horror film.
Witnesses claim that the surge in these felines correlates with someone allegedly overfeeding the strays, leading to their proliferation in the community.
“I would describe it as a cat—some kind of zombie situation happening here,” stated Inglewood resident Dennis Gray, who has observed over a hundred cats roaming the area as night descends.
“It was 1 AM when I started hearing scratching sounds, thinking, ‘What could that be?’” Gray recounted. “When I opened the door, the cats dispersed like cockroaches.”
Gray mentioned that many of these cats display little fear of humans, brazenly darting into nearby yards without care.
“This is quite bothersome since they scurry around the neighborhood and behind homes,” noted fellow resident Bruce Brown in his remarks to the local news outlet.
Some locals speculate that the increasing feline population is a direct result of a neighbor’s decision to overfeed the strays, thereby attracting even more cats to Inglewood.
Moreover, the rising cat population has allegedly drawn coyotes into the area, as they hunt the abundant strays.
During a recent visit by a news crew, the remains of one cat were discovered, captured on security cameras as coyotes fed on the strays.
Coyotes are a familiar sight in the Los Angeles region, often scavenging for food among waste and smaller prey in suburban neighborhoods at night.
In response to the growing cat issue in Inglewood, LA Animal Services confirmed they are investigating the matter and are collaborating with partner organizations to implement spaying and neutering services aimed at reducing the stray population.
