UFC May Host Event at White House for America’s 250th Birthday
The UFC is set to organize a fight event on the grounds of the White House, as confirmed by a representative from the organization to NBC News on Friday. While specific details remain sparse, President Donald Trump expressed his desire for this event to coincide with celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
During a speech in Des Moines, Iowa, Trump remarked, “We’re going to hold a UFC fight right at the White House.” He emphasized the ample space available, noting the expansive land surrounding the presidential residence.
The President anticipates that the fight card will feature a title bout, with an expected attendance of between 20,000 and 25,000 spectators. He elaborated, “Every one of our national parks, historic battlefields, and significant sites will host special events for America 250. And I truly believe a UFC fight will be part of that.”
Currently, the status of the event’s planning is unclear, with uncertainty surrounding its confirmation. The UFC spokesperson indicated that more information would be provided “in due time.”
Former two-division champion Conor McGregor, who has been inactive since July 2021, expressed interest in participating in the White House event via social media, stating, “I would be honored. Count me in!”
Trump maintains a close relationship with UFC President Dana White, who has been a visible supporter at his campaign rallies. Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, he publicly acknowledged White’s contributions to his campaign efforts during a rally.
Just days after reclaiming the presidency last November, Trump attended a pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden alongside notable figures including Elon Musk and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Trump’s involvement in combat sports spans decades, with roots tracing back to the 1980s when he hosted major boxing events at his Atlantic City hotels and frequently attends UFC matches.
