Trump Responds Sharply to Charlamagne tha God’s Remarks on GOP and Epstein Scandal
President Trump launched a vehement critique of Charlamagne tha God, labeling him a “sleazebag” and a “low IQ individual,” following the talk show host’s comments on Lara Trump’s Fox News program. During the Saturday broadcast, Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, suggested that the Epstein scandal might undermine the influence of the MAGA movement within the Republican Party.
The former president was quick to express his displeasure. “The wonderful and talented Lara Trump, whose show enjoys great ratings, had Charlamagne the ‘God’—a racist sleazebag—on her program,” Trump wrote on Truth Social early Sunday. “Why can he even use the term ‘GOD’ for himself?”
Charlamagne had asserted that “traditional conservatives” could reclaim control of the GOP in light of recent developments surrounding the Epstein case, which involves the Trump administration’s postponed release of documents linked to the convicted financier.
In his backlash, Trump did not specifically address Charlamagne’s comments but made it clear he was unimpressed. “He’s a low IQ individual who is clueless about what he’s saying and knows nothing about my achievements, such as ending five wars—including the prolonged conflict between Rwanda and the Republic of the Congo,” Trump said.
Charlamagne described the controversy surrounding Epstein as indicative of a “political coup” unfolding within the Republican Party, a situation he believes has gone largely unnoticed. His remarks followed a July 6 memo from the Justice Department and FBI that stated evidence suggested Epstein had taken his own life and did not possess an “incriminating client list.”
In a previous statement, Trump criticized factions of the MAGA base for fixating on the issue, asserting that Democrats were fueling the “Epstein Hoax.”
“I suggest traditional conservatives are prepared to seize back the Republican Party,” Charlamagne remarked. “The Epstein matter appears to be the issue that could energize the base, allowing traditional conservatives to regain control without alienating MAGA supporters.”
He further noted, “Many conservatives understand this is an issue that has stirred the base’s emotions. For the first time, traditional conservatives might feel empowered to retake the party without upsetting MAGA supporters.”
The host of “The Breakfast Club” acknowledged Trump as a unique political force but criticized his overall performance, asserting that many Americans continue to face economic hardships during his administration. “People are suffering right now,” Charlamagne stated. “He promised immediate change from day one.”
Additionally, he mentioned Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the UN, as a Republican candidate he could potentially support.
Trump reiterated his criticism of Charlamagne, claiming the host was ignorant of his accomplishments. “He didn’t know about my negotiations with India and Pakistan, or my success in limiting Iran’s nuclear ambitions, or securing our borders, or achieving a thriving economy where inflation has greatly decreased," Trump said regarding his tenure.
“Yet this fool, Charlamagne, would rather vote for ‘Sleepy Joe’ or Kamala? Just one year ago, our nation was stagnant, and now it’s the ‘hottest’ country in the world. MAGA!!!”
