Trump Issues Stark Warning to Medvedev Amid Ukraine Conflict
Former President Donald Trump cautioned Dmitry Medvedev, the ex-president of Russia, about the potential consequences of his comments regarding U.S. demands for a cease-fire in Ukraine, which Medvedev labeled as “a step towards war.”
On Thursday morning, Trump took to Truth Social to express, “Tell Medvedev, the unsuccessful former President of Russia who mistakenly believes he’s still in power, to be cautious. He is venturing into perilous territory!”
During a press event in Scotland this past Monday, Trump announced his intention to shorten the timeline he initially set for Russia to conclude its invasion of Ukraine from 50 days to just 10 to 12 days.
Trump’s original ultimatum was presented on July 14, accompanied by a call for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, warning of dire economic repercussions should negotiations fail.
Medvedev, who serves as the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, stated that if the U.S. president continued his aggressive efforts to resolve the conflict, it could lead both nations to the brink of war.
“Trump is playing a dangerous game of ultimatums with Russia: 50 days or just 10. He needs to remember two facts: 1. Russia is neither Israel nor Iran. 2. Each new ultimatum escalates tensions and leads toward war,” Medvedev commented via X on July 28.
In a swift response, the 78-year-old former president referenced India shortly after announcing a 25 percent tariff along with a penalty on the country, effective August 1.
“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can sink together for all I care. Our business dealings with India are minimal, and their tariffs rank among the highest globally,” Trump conveyed on Truth Social.
"Equally, the business relationship between Russia and the U.S. is nearly nonexistent. Let’s keep it that way,” he added.
Trump expressed frustration regarding his Russian counterparts for their inability to terminate the conflict.
“I must admit I’m disappointed in him,” Trump shared during an interview with Miranda Devine for the latest episode of “Pod Force One,” released Wednesday.
“We’ve had productive discussions, but they have not led to positive outcomes. Following our talks, very troubling events have unfolded. Multiple times, I left thinking we had reached an understanding, only to be proved wrong,” Trump said.
