Trump Visits Texas Flood Aftermath, Remembers Camp Tragedy Victims

President Trump visited Texas on Friday to assess the devastation caused by recent floods, mourning the loss of “young angels” who perished at a Christian summer camp. This reflection followed the presentation of a silver charm bracelet to First Lady Melania Trump, created to honor the children swept away by the Guadalupe River.

During his remarks, Trump emphasized the tragic loss of life at Camp Mystic, a well-known girls’ camp that attracts visitors from across the nation. He raised concerns about the extreme rise in water levels in the areas west of San Antonio and Austin, describing the rapidly flowing waters as a perilous force—comparable to an insurmountable wave.

“The most skilled surfers in the world would hesitate to tackle these floodwaters,” he stated, likening the surge to “a massive wave in the Pacific Ocean,” and highlighting that at least 120 individuals have lost their lives, with another 160 still unaccounted for.

In a show of solidarity, Melania Trump accompanied her husband on the visit and later showcased the memorial bracelet, sharing details of an emotional private encounter with victims’ families prior to addressing the media.

“Our country stands with you in your grief. We had the privilege of meeting some remarkable families today,” the First Lady conveyed to those gathered at the briefing.

“We prayed together, embraced one another, and listened to their stories. I was gifted this special bracelet from the camp, commemorating the precious young girls who tragically lost their lives.”

Television personality Dr. Phil McGraw was also present, offering comforting words at the President’s request.

“If you encounter someone grieving in public, there’s often hesitation about whether to acknowledge their loss,” McGraw remarked. “The answer is clear—always reach out; don’t let them feel forgotten.”
