Young Woman Dies While in NYPD Custody in the Bronx
A tragic incident occurred at a Bronx precinct station on Saturday, where a young woman perished while in the custody of the NYPD, despite efforts by officers to resuscitate her.
The 18-year-old lost consciousness shortly after arriving at the 41st Precinct station located on Longwood Ave. in Hunts Point around 12:30 a.m., according to police reports.
Following her collapse, officers called for emergency medical services and commenced CPR in an attempt to save her life.
Emergency responders quickly transported the woman to Lincoln Hospital; however, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, law enforcement officials confirmed.
Authorities detailed that multiple officers carried out CPR while awaiting the arrival of EMS, as stated in an official communication concerning the incident.
The woman’s name has not yet been disclosed to the public.
Investigators have not revealed the reasons for her custody, citing an ongoing examination by the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division.
