Texas Flood Crisis Claims 24 Lives; Campers Still Missing
The tragic aftermath of the catastrophic floods in Texas has led to the confirmation of 24 fatalities, as authorities reported Friday evening. Meanwhile, roughly 25 girls from a Christian summer camp are still unaccounted for.
Officials indicated that between 23 and 25 campers from Camp Mystic are missing, following a sudden rainfall that caused the Guadalupe River to overflow early in the morning.
While the death toll stands at 24, it remains uncertain if any of the deceased are connected to the camp.
In response to the disaster, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency for multiple counties near San Antonio, vowing to deploy all necessary resources to support those impacted by the flooding.
“We will spare no effort in ensuring that every asset and personnel, along with every available strategy, is deployed in the mission to locate and rescue every last individual,” Abbott stated.
