15-Year-Old Detained in Fatal Stabbing Incident on Long Island
A 15-year-old undocumented migrant has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man on Long Island, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Friday at a residence on Roosevelt Place in Mineola. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 32-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen, as reported by the Nassau County Police Department.
The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.
Authorities later arrested the suspect at the scene. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman stated on News 12 that the minor is in the country illegally.
Police have refrained from disclosing whether the suspect and the victim had any prior acquaintance and have not confirmed the teen’s immigration status.
The teenager faces a charge of second-degree murder and is slated to be arraigned in the Youth Section of the First District Court on Saturday. Attempts to reach Blakeman for further comments were unsuccessful.
