Unique Tattoo and Jewelry May Help Identify Woman’s Remains Found on Jackie Robinson Highway
Authorities are seeking assistance in identifying the skeletal remains of a small-framed woman, discovered earlier this month in a trash bag along the Jackie Robinson Highway.
On Thursday, the NYPD shared images of a unique rose tattoo and various pieces of jewelry belonging to the deceased, thought to be a black or Hispanic female aged between 20 and 30, with a height ranging from 4 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 2 inches.
The victim was described as having dark brown curly hair, with the ends lightened, featuring the rose tattoo prominently located on her upper left buttocks.
The unsettling find was made by a Department of Transportation employee during a lawn mowing activity adjacent to the highway, situated near Cypress Hills Cemetery, around 10:30 a.m. on August 6, according to police and sources.
Photographs depict the skeletal remains contained in a body bag, with tombstones from Cypress Hill Cemetery visible in the background.
The woman is described as a black or Hispanic individual, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, and standing 4 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 2 inches tall.
Notably, the cemetery is the final resting place of Jackie Robinson, the iconic Brooklyn Dodgers player after whom the highway is named.
The police encourage anyone with relevant information regarding the woman’s identity to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
Additionally, tips can be submitted online via the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on social media platform X @NYPDTips.
