American Citizen with Alleged CIA Ties Detained in Mexico for Weapons Offenses

Mexican authorities reported the arrest of an American citizen who purportedly held “CIA” identification on weapons-related charges this past Saturday.

The individual, whose identity has not been revealed, was taken into custody for suspected involvement in both disturbing public order and possession of military-grade firearms, according to the Secretariat of Security for the State of Mexico.

The arrest resulted in the discovery of six guns, ammunition, magazines, and tactical gear, the agency indicated.

“The individual carried credentials marked ‘CIA,'” officials shared via a post on X.

Photographs released by authorities depicted a collection of firearms, including rifles and handguns, along with tactical vests, helmets, pocket knives, and ammunition.

The State Department confirmed to Fox News that it was aware of the reports surrounding the arrest.

While an agency representative stated that ensuring the safety and well-being of U.S. nationals abroad is their top priority, they emphasized, “When a U.S. citizen is detained in another country, the department strives to offer necessary consular support.”

Currently, Mexican officials have not provided further information regarding the circumstances of the arrest or the man’s presence in the country.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Central Intelligence Agency but did not receive an immediate response as of Sunday morning.
