Los Angeles ICE arrests more than 5000 illegal immigrants in June including 'worst of the worst'

Over 5,000 Arrests of Unauthorized Immigrants in Los Angeles Since June

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports that over 5,000 unauthorized immigrants have been apprehended in the Los Angeles region since June. Among those arrested are some individuals classified as “the worst of the worst” due to violent offenses.

The detainees mentioned by DHS hail from various countries, including Mexico, El Salvador, South Korea, Vietnam, China, and Eritrea.

According to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, “Our enforcement agencies have conducted more than 5,000 arrests in Los Angeles, removing over 5,000 criminal unauthorized immigrants, including gang members, child predators, and murderers from our communities—a significant step in saving precious lives.”

The agency revealed that some of the captured immigrants have significant criminal backgrounds involving serious offenses such as murder, theft, and sexual assault, including against minors.

“Families are safeguarded. American taxpayers are spared from the costs incurred by their criminal activities and the weight of their benefits. I commend our dedicated law enforcement personnel. Be assured, if you are in this country illegally, we will locate you, detain you, and repatriate you. This is merely the start,” she added.

Diego Fernandez-Martinez, a national from Mexico, has a history of carjacking, vehicle theft, and possession of drugs, according to DHS. He is also reportedly affiliated with the Surenos gang.

Juan Carlos Marin-Hipolito, another Mexican national, has been sentenced to 50 years to life for murder, as stated by the agency.

Jaime Sarinana-Rodriguez, also from Mexico, is a registered sex offender convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a minor, receiving a 16-year prison term.

Martina Zacarias, a Mexican woman, has convictions for lewd acts involving a child under 14 and was sentenced to eight years behind bars.

Edgar Isaac Lopez, also of Mexico, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and child cruelty leading to injury or death, among other offenses. His record includes assault and unlawful use of identification.

Omar Guzman-Rodriguez, another Mexican national and registered sex offender, has convictions for burglary, vehicle theft, and lewd acts with a child under 14, according to DHS.

Joel Benjamin Reyes from El Salvador is a registered sex offender convicted of first-degree rape by force and incest with a relative.

Yohannes Zerai, hailing from Eritrea, is a registered sex offender with convictions for robbery, serious battery, and assault with intent to commit rape.

South Korean national Justin Chung has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for murder and for firing at an occupied building.

Quoc Dung Pham, from Vietnam, is a registered sex offender who has been convicted of kidnapping and multiple sex-related offenses and received a 64-year prison sentence.

His sibling, Bo Quoc Pham, is also a registered sex offender, receiving 118 years for related offenses.

Chinese national Hong Jing was convicted of DUI, aiding in sex trafficking, and racketeering.

These arrests are part of a series of federal immigration operations initiated in June in Los Angeles, which expanded to local businesses and incited protests against ICE actions and the administration’s broad deportation strategies.
