Kamala Harris Launches Fiery Critique of Biden’s Bid for Re-election: ‘A Reckless Move’

Kamala Harris goes scorched earth on Biden’s decision to run for second term: ‘Recklessness’

Kamala Harris Critiques Biden’s Decision to Pursue Second Term in Upcoming Memoir

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has criticized the “carelessness” of Joe Biden’s choice to seek a second term, asserting in her upcoming memoir that such a decision shouldn’t hinge on “one person’s ego.”

Harris’s unexpected remarks regarding her former superior were revealed in an excerpt from her book, titled “107 Days,” which was shared with The Atlantic on Wednesday.

In her commentary, Harris questions whether it was "grace" or "carelessness" that led to her failure to persuade Biden to withdraw from the 2024 election sooner, ultimately concluding it was the latter.

"The stakes were far too significant," she asserts. "This wasn’t a matter that should rest on an individual’s ego or ambition. It should have transcended personal choice."

Despite her criticisms, Harris maintained that her reluctance to voice concerns “during those months of rising anxiety” about Biden’s cognitive capacity was indicative of her loyalty.

She explained, "The American public had previously elected him in the same circumstances," and opted to remain silent, considering it "possible that he was correct about this too."

Harris elaborated, saying, "Among those in the White House, I was in the most precarious position to argue that he should step aside. I recognized it would appear self-serving if I were to recommend he not run. He might perceive me as driven by ambition—perhaps even treachery—despite my message being solely: Don’t let the other candidate win."

She noted, "We all repeated, ‘It’s Joe and Jill’s decision,’ like a mantra, as if under a spell."

Harris further indicated that she would have intervened had she perceived Biden as incapable.

“Many want to concoct a narrative suggesting a conspiracy within the White House to conceal Joe Biden’s ailments. Here’s the reality as I experienced it: Joe Biden is intelligent, seasoned, and committed, fully capable of fulfilling presidential responsibilities. On his worst day, he surpassed Donald Trump’s best in knowledge, judgment, and empathy,” she wrote.

Harris acknowledged that Biden’s age became apparent, leading to moments of fatigue during crucial debates. “It’s no wonder that the mishaps occurred right after a series of strenuous trips to Europe and a flight to the West Coast for a Hollywood fundraiser,” she stated.

“I don’t view it as incapacity. If I believed that, I wouldn’t hesitate to say so. As loyal as I am to President Biden, my loyalty to my country takes precedence,” she concluded.
