Vice President JD Vance Responds to Gavin Newsom’s Criticism During Family Disneyland Visit
Vice President JD Vance recently addressed California Governor Gavin Newsom’s pointed remarks on social media following Vance’s trip to Disneyland with his family over the weekend.
Videos showcasing Vance enjoying the amusement park alongside his wife, Usha, and their two children circulated widely online on Saturday, eventually capturing Newsom’s attention.
In the midst of tackling ongoing lawsuits and a controversial immigration raid at a marijuana farm, the governor took to X to voice his objections regarding Vance’s leisure time.
“Hope you enjoy your family time, @JDVance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t,” Newsom remarked on the platform.
In response, Vance remained composed, stating simply, “Had a great time, thanks.”
While the Vance family was at Disneyland, approximately 150 demonstrators gathered outside the park to express their dissent. Additional protests unfolded in Anaheim, just two miles away from the amusement park, focusing on the recent immigration efforts in the area.
Reports also indicated growing crowds at the hotel where the Vance family was rumored to be staying.
Though the trip appeared to be a personal one, it coincided with advancements in Second Lady Usha’s literacy initiative, during which she visited Camp Pendleton and read to the children of service members.
Newsom, rumored to harbor ambitions for a 2028 presidential campaign, has been engaged in an ongoing conflict with the Trump administration since its inception.
The governor’s tensions with President Trump notably escalated following intense protests against immigration enforcement that erupted in June. In a decisive move, Trump activated the National Guard, a step Newsom claimed exacerbated the situation.
Following last week’s detention of more than 200 undocumented immigrants at a marijuana farm, Trump authorized federal agents to arrest protesters gathered at the location, whom he labeled as “slimeball” activists. However, a judge swiftly intervened, blocking Trump’s directive on the grounds of unconstitutionality.
