Hakeem Jeffries on the Hunt for a Digital Media Expert
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is seeking a new digital manager to enhance his online presence, particularly after a recent editing error on Instagram that gained significant attention.
On Tuesday, Jeffries’ office advertised for a “dynamic and highly skilled” individual proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and similar tools.
According to the job listing, the Digital Manager will focus on creating engaging video, audio, and visual content from the Leader’s on-camera appearances for various online platforms. The candidate should have a solid understanding of the digital media landscape and demonstrate “excellent judgment.”
Earlier this month, Jeffries went viral for a poorly edited Instagram post featuring a distorted image of himself.
While initially appearing stylish in sunglasses, the bench beneath him was visibly warped. Further investigation revealed additional images on Jeffries’ accounts where backgrounds appeared oddly altered.
Even progressive commentator Ken Klippenstein joined the criticism, quipping, “Hakeem Jeffries is such a charisma black hole that it’s warping the fabric of spacetime” on July 7.
Republican operatives also weighed in on the editing misstep. Erin Maguire, a Republican strategist, remarked, “Hakeem Jeffries slimming himself in Photoshop is the most transparency we’ve seen from Democrats in years.”
The Post reached out to a Jeffries representative to determine if the digital manager recruitment was a response to the recent backlash.
“Guess it takes a full-time editor to keep up with a full-time embarrassment,” mocked Mike Marinella, spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The job description outlines that the digital manager must also analyze engagement metrics on social media, edit videos, and collaborate with Jeffries’ online supporters. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience.
