A Mayoral Candidate Shares Name with Notorious Criminal but Stands Apart
An Australian individual named Geoffrey Epstein is campaigning for the mayoralty in a Massachusetts community and distances himself from any parallels to the infamous convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, as reported.
Known as “Geoff,” he expressed confidence about the phonetic similarity to the disreputable figure, emphasizing that he is not intimidated by it.
“That person is dead, and I am a living Australian,” Epstein remarked about his candidacy in Framingham, a suburb of Boston. “However, the criminal acts associated with the other guy are truly horrifying,” he continued, asserting that he has led his life with integrity and a focus on positive change.
Epstein firmly stated that changing his name to avoid the negative association with the deceased criminal is not an option. “I cherish my name and take pride in my family’s history, particularly in their participation in World War II,” he noted.
Born on September 11, he also distinguishes himself from his namesake through his academic achievements, having earned a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, in contrast to the notorious Jeffrey Epstein, who left Cooper Union before completing his degree.

“It was completely unexpected,” Harvey Epstein remarked to The Post following the skit. “Can you imagine seeing a parody of yourself on SNL?”
He also added, “Your name is simply what it is, and both Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein are dreadful figures.”
