Former Arsenal Player Thomas Partey Faces Charges of Rape and Assault
Thomas Partey, who previously played for Arsenal in the English Premier League, has been charged with multiple offenses, including rape and sexual assault, according to a statement released by London’s Metropolitan Police on Friday.
The charges against Partey, a Ghanaian national, include five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, involving allegations from three women. These incidents are reported to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.
At this time, Partey’s management has not provided a comment regarding the allegations.
The 32-year-old is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on August 5.
Partey joined Arsenal in October 2020 from Atlético Madrid for a transfer fee of €50 million (approximately $59 million) and quickly established himself as a vital player for the team.
He was initially arrested in July 2022, but his identity was not disclosed at that moment, and he continued to participate in matches for Arsenal while the investigation was in progress.
