Bryan Kohberger Transferred to Notorious Idaho Maximum Security Prison
Bryan Kohberger has been moved to one of the most infamous prisons in the United States, the Idaho Maximum Security Institute (IMSI), according to recent reports. This transfer occurred shortly after he was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday for the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students.
As of Wednesday evening, it remained uncertain whether the 30-year-old arrived in time for the evening meal. If he did, the menu featured hotdogs, salad, and Jello-pie, as relayed by a prison official.
For inmates adhering to a vegan diet, offerings included vegan barley casserole, baked beans, and canned fruit, the official noted.
Previously held at the Ada County Jail in Boise during his trial, Kohberger is now set to spend his sentence at IMSI, which serves as the state’s solitary maximum-security facility.
The prison has garnered a reputation for its harsh conditions, with reports of filthy cells, aggressive staff, and inmate riots. Notably, it is home to Chad Daybell, the husband of “Doomsday” cult leader Lori Vallow, who was convicted of child murder.
IMSI also houses two of Idaho’s most infamous serial killers, Gerald Pizzuto and Thomas Eugene Creech, in addition to Daybell.
In 2024, Security Journal Americas ranked IMSI among the "15 Worst Prisons in America."
