Gang-Related Shootout in the Bronx Leaves One Dead, Four Injured
A shootout, believed to be linked to gang activity, erupted in the Bronx, resulting in one fatality and four individuals sustaining injuries. Additionally, four suspects have been apprehended, and several weapons were seized, as reported by law enforcement sources and the NYPD.
The gunfire erupted around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Burke Avenue and Wickham Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest, along with a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot to the back.
Both victims were rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where the 32-year-old was later declared deceased, while the 31-year-old remains in critical condition, as stated by the police.
Simultaneously, three additional individuals arrived at various hospitals with gunshot injuries. A 17-year-old girl was admitted to Jacobi Hospital with a gunshot wound to her face. Also, a 29-year-old man checked in at the same facility with a gunshot wound to his back. Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man sought treatment at Montefiore Nyack Hospital for a graze wound on his right arm. All these patients are reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have detained four individuals connected to the incident, and multiple firearms have been recovered. The investigation is ongoing, with preliminary information suggesting the incident was gang-related.
