Star-Studded Broadway Barks Event Celebrates Pet Adoption
The 27th annual Broadway Barks event, dedicated to pet adoption, took place seamlessly on Saturday at Shubert Alley, a central locale in the vibrant theater district.
Co-hosting the event were Broadway icon Bernadette Peters and Beth Leavel, recently seen in an extended run of Stephen Sondheim’s “Old Friends.”
Attendees showered affection on puppies rescued from Queens, showcasing the compassion of the Broadway community.
Images captured moments of interaction, such as a woman enjoying the company of four-month-old Terrier mix puppies saved from Georgia. The event also featured fun activities like dog selfies.
This year’s presenters included acclaimed actors such as Andy Karl, a three-time Tony Award winner, Gavin Lee from “Mary Poppins,” and Jessica Vosk from “Hell’s Kitchen.” Additionally, South African singer and actor Orville Peck joined in the festivities.
Also lending their support were Erika Henningsen from “Mean Girls,” Lesli Margherita from “Gypsy,” Erich Bergen from “Jersey Boys,” and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, who each contributed to the event’s lively atmosphere.
The event successfully gathered various animal shelters and rescue organizations from across New York, aiming to secure forever homes for numerous pets in need.
Organized by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the event plays a vital role in advocating for spaying and neutering across the Five Boroughs.
